Updated Designs For Newscastle Towers Released

Revised designs for two residential towers located at 854 Hunter Street in the west end of Newcastle, Australia, have been released, ArchitectureAU reported in October. The site was once home to Australia’s largest and most successful co-operative, known as The Store, which closed in the early 1980s with the rise of suburban shopping malls. The Government of New South Wales bought the site in 2015 with aims to realize its transport and development potential. Developer Doma Group and designer Bates Smart are working on the twin apartment towers project. The new design makes the towers different heights — 31 and 29 stories — and the tops of the towers have been sculpted to look different depending on the angle. A construction timeline was not reported.
