Alimak Fights Australia Firm For Use Of Company’s Name

Alimak took legal action against an Australian company it says infringed the Scandinavian-based manufacturer’s trademark. Alimak Group, a maker of products, parts and components, says the opponent attached “fake Alimak-branded plates on safety devices, and thereby falsely [claimed] that certain repair services were carried out by Alimak.” The company says all its products, parts and components are designed and tested to make sure they work in accordance with its manuals, certifications and instructions distributed. It ensures that Alimak products work successfully and safely in the operating conditions for which they are designed. Alimak took immediate legal action upon finding that its plates had been applied on Alimak Overspeed Safety Brakes and were being used by the Australian company by name and parts without approval or authorization. The target in question, which was not publicly named, has now complied with legal requirements, including the publication of a correction notice on its website as well as destruction of its false plates. Alimak, which is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, has installed some 70,000 elevators, hoists, platforms, service lifts and building maintenance units around the world, and has several offices.
