NYC MTA Completes Subway Elevator Upgrade Ahead Of Time

The NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced on December 26 it completed an elevator replacement project at the Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College subway station in Flatbush, Brooklyn, ahead of time, Shorefront News is among outlets to report. Work began in early July 2021 as part of a larger effort to replace 11 hydraulic elevators at seven stations in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. MTA officials said completing the project ahead of schedule is a testament to new MTA strategies such as bundling and public/private partnerships. Replacement work included the cab, shaft and pit; all machine-room equipment; a modernized CCTV and alarm system; and upgraded LiftNet remote-monitoring equipment. As the project wrapped, another at the nearby Church Avenue station got underway. The station will remain open throughout the project, slated for completion this spring.
