Dubai’s 340-m supertall Uptown Tower, with vertical-transportation (VT) equipment from Schindler, has topped out at the 79th floor, Arabian Business is among outlets to report. A project of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), the structure was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture and will become the centerpiece and first supertall of the new Uptown Dubai District. BESIX Group subsidiary Six Construct is handling construction, including using the Schindler R.I.S.E robotic elevator installation system to enhance precision and safety. DMCC CEO Ahmed Bin Sulayem said “using the very latest smart and sustainable construction has enabled us to build an exceptional tower without any disruptions” during what has been a challenging time globally. Uptown Tower will house offices, a 188-room hotel, restaurants, conference facilities and 229 residences. Completion is anticipated in the third quarter of this year.
