Mongrain Vertical Transport’s Jean Larcher to Retire

Jean Larcher, from the EW 2012 archives

Jean Larcher, a professional engineer with more than 20 years with Grandes-Piles, Canada-based Mongrain Vertical Transport, will retire on April 22. Previously with Leistritz Advanced Technologies Corp., Larcher was instrumental in designing freight vertical-transportation (VT) systems for major projects, particularly in NYC, where he worked on supertall office tower One Vanderbilt in Midtown Manhattan, New York University’s 185 Mercer Street in Greenwich Village, the City College of New York’s (CUNY) historic Shepard Hall between West Harlem and Upper Manhattan and numerous designer flagship stores in NYC. Through the years, Larcher participated in many National Association of Elevator Contractors, Canadian Elevator Contractors Association and Elevator Conference of New York events. He also wrote technical articles for ELEVATOR WORLD. When he is not hiking, traveling abroad to his motherland France or driving his RV across North America with his spouse, Larcher plans to remain active and accessible to fellow members of the VT industry to “continue the transfer of knowledge.”
