Alimak Undertakes Elevator Work at Sydney Harbour Site

Alimak, a global elevator company in the construction and manufacturing industries, says it is helping the development of the high-rise towers of One Sydney Harbour, in Sydney, Australia. One Sydney Harbour includes a building standing 259 m with 74 levels, with two more buildings at 238 m with 62 floors each. The units include parking areas below. Alimak, based in Stockholm, Sweden, was engaged to help the developer utilize systems not currently present in the local Australian market. Boundaries in the CBD areas were posing issues within the area, requiring more labor and materials, which in turn forced the need for additional hoists. The company’s ability to provide more machines helped fulfill requirements. Because the common towers took up less space, they offered a great advantage by allowing additional hoists on site, as well as less impact on the façade install. One Sydney’s high-speed hoists, designed to carry 3,100 kg at 80 m/min, provide the speed to efficiently traverse the height of the building, the companies said. Construction is expected to occur sometime in 2023.
