On June 24, the governor of Tokyo approved the formation of a redevelopment committee for the Toranomon 1 Chome East District project, a 180-m-tall, 29-story primarily office tower in front of Toranomon Station, Japan Property Central reports. Housing offices, retail, “a business innovation hub,” conference and event space, the tower is being developed by a team that includes Chuo-Nittochi, the Urban Renaissance Agency and Sumitomo Realty & Development. Taking the place of numerous smaller buildings on 6,400 m2, the US$108-million development is tentatively scheduled to break ground in July 2023, with competition possible in late 2026.
