Otis provided 15 vertical-transportation (VT) units — 13 Gen3TM elevators and two LinkTM escalators — for the LEED Gold-certified 10 World Trade building in Boston’s Seaport District. The OEM was selected by developer Boston Global Investors to provide the VT equipment for the 17-story mixed-use building designed by Sasaki. With a glassy, transparent profile that “pulls out” at the corners, the building will deliver more than 200,000 ft2 of lab space, more than 255,000 ft2 of office space, 8,000 ft2 for cultural use, 6,500 ft2 of retail and 40,000 ft2 of public and outdoor improvements. Formerly known as 401 Congress Street, the development will be “a critical node of connectivity in the area, linking levels, modes of transportation and the public and private realms,” according to Sasaki. Otis’s ReGen® drives and Compass® 360 dispatching system are among the building’s energy-saving features.
