Recall for Six Home Elevator Models Installed from 1986-2022

The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall on August 11 for home elevator models manufactured by Residential Elevators, Inc., and sold from 1986 through July 2022, Fox 59 is among outlets to report. CPSC said the recall is because young children can become trapped in the space between the exterior landing (hoistway) door and the interior elevator car door, potentially suffering serious injuries or death when the elevator is called to another floor. Approximately 31,000 units, including the Easy Rider, Horizon Lift, Luxury Lift, Luxury Lift Hydraulic, Luxury Lift Traction and RE models, are affected, according to CPSC. Residential Elevators cautioned consumers to keep unsupervised children away from the recalled elevators until space guards are installed, and advised property owners to contact the company at 877-794-3032, visit the website or send an email for instructions on how to measure for the guards.
