As construction continues approximately 20 m underground to prepare for tunnel boring machines (TBM) to clear a path for a new metro rail corridor in Patna, India, lifts and escalators to enhance accessibility at new stations are also on the horizon, The Times of India reports. The source says work on Corridor II of Patna Metro Rail is progressing at a brisk pace, with Delhi Metro Rail Corp. setting a March 2023 deadline to complete a reinforcement wall that will allow for the TBMs, two of which have already arrived from China. These TBMs will lay the groundwork for the new, 7,068-m2 Moin-ul-Haq Stadium station, which will be served by four lifts and eight escalators. Five other stations along the 14.5-m route from Patna Junction to a new bus terminal will also be outfitted with elevators and escalators. The 7.9-km underground section is slated for completion in May 2026.
