The Portuguese City Council has begun work on the construction of two urban elevators that will serve to improve access between Julio Gutiérrez Lumbreras Street and Urdibai Square, in Portugalete, Spain, Nation World News reports. The first urban elevator will connect Julio Gutiérrez Lumbreras Street and Grupo La Florida, while the second elevator will connect Grupo La Florida and Plaza Urdibai at the residence height, providing access to ramps that connect to this intersection. With the lift’s location at Grupo La Florida, it will help bridge a 14-m-high drop. The Portuguese Town Hall has invested almost half a million euros in the execution of this project, which will make Plaza Urdibai and its surrounding areas a better access point. Work is in the early stages and expected to last six months. Parallel to the construction of the lifts, the existing flights of stairs at this point in the Noble Villa will also be improved.
