Knowsley Lift Services Ltd., headquartered in Liverpool, U.K., began the new year with a lift replacement at the historic Old Victoria Theatre in London. The scope of work includes removing an existing passenger lift and replacing it with a new, machine-room-less unit, as well as adding a new platform lift in the main atrium. Also known as the “Old Vic,” the not-for-profit, 1,000-seat theater was founded in 1818 by James King and Daniel Dunn (former managers of the Surrey Theatre in Bermondsey) and John Thomas Serres (marine painter to King George III) in the Waterloo area of London. It was awarded Grade II status in 1951.
