Milwaukee Tower To Be Tallest Mass Timber Building in U.S.

Revised plans for The Edison apartment tower in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will make it the tallest mass timber building in the U.S., Urban Milwaukee reports. Developed by Madison-based The Neutral Project and Chicago-based HPA Architecture, the 28-story building will surpass the 25-story Ascent tower, which is also located in Milwaukee. The Ascent is currently the world’s tallest mass timber building, but it will soon lose that title to Australia’s new Atlassian Central, a mixed-use tower, which will rise 39 stories upon completion. The Neutral Project hopes to break ground on The Edison in mid-to-late fall, with construction wrapping up in 2026.
