A 660-m-long skywalk connected to all sides of the Uppal crossroads in Hyderabad, India, is nearly complete, with opening imminent, the Deccan Chronicle is among outlets to report. The skywalk is outfitted with vertical-transportation (VT) equipment including eight lifts and four escalators, as well as six staircases. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed construction of the long-awaited skywalk, which is made of 90% steel. According to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, it is expected to serve approximately 20,000 pedestrians and an equal number of rail travelers daily. Telangana Municipal Minister K.T. Rama Rao wants such facilities to become more available in eastern Hyderabad since its population is growing.
