In collaboration with the China Women’s Development Foundation, Otis awarded 60 female students in China with scholarships toward earning degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) at Tianjin University and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Otis announced on May 23. Winners were selected based on academic performance, extra-curricular activities and giving back to the community. The Otis scholarship program was launched in 2021 and has benefitted 240 female STEM students to date. The 2023 scholarship recipients have diverse backgrounds and goals, with some seeking to provide more prosperous lives for their parents in remote, rural regions and others planning to register patents for their innovations. Recipients include active community volunteers who want to help younger women in their communities. “With diversity and inclusion embedded in our Environmental, Social and Governance goals, we invest in supporting female talent to pursue academic and professional achievements that will help build a sustainable talent pipeline,” Otis China President Sally Loh said.
