Brooklyn Subway Station Modernization With Elevators Wins Award

The modernization of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) Livonia Avenue Station on the Canarsie subway line in Brooklyn, NY, was named the 2022 Project of the Year in the US$10 million-US$60 million category by the Construction Management Association of America’s Metro New York/New Jersey chapter, TAP Electric recently announced. TAP, an affiliate of NYC-based general contractor Forte Construction Corp., is part of Citnalta TAP JV, a joint venture with Citnalta Construction Corp. Citnala TAP worked with construction manager HDR and designers Gannett Fleming and Urbahn Architects for client MTA. The modernization included the installation of two street-level elevators with a street-level machine room. MTA tells ELEVATOR WORLD Hollister-Whitney manufactured the elevator equipment, which was purchased and installed by Staten Island-based Hudson Elevator Group for MTA. Citnalta TAP performed the construction, mechanical and electrical work, and the installation of the two elevators, as well as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant passageways and stairs.
