Otis Worldwide has been named one of America’s Greenest Companies, according to an inaugural list announced by Newsweek. Companies were evaluated based on their greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, water generation, waste generation and sustainability data disclosure and commitments. In 2021, Otis established 13 goals aligned with the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Otis’ goals for Environment & Impact include achieving a 50% reduction of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030, reaching carbon neutrality for factory electricity by 2030, achieving 100% factory eligibility for zero-waste-to-landfill (ZWTL) certification by 2025 and completing ISO 14001 certification for all factories by 2025 (achieved). The Newsweek study, conducted in partnership with Plant-A and GIST Impact, identified the top 300 companies in the U.S. based on environmental sustainability. The rankings are supported by research and analysis of top organizations in the U.S. that have a market capitalization of a minimum of US$5 billion and adhere to European Union sustainably standard guidelines.
