CTBUH Best Tall Building Europe is Sweden’s Sara Kulturhus

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) named Sara Kulturhus in Skellefteå, Sweden, the Best Tall Building, Europe, as part of CTBUH’s 2023 Award of Excellence program at the annual international conference in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur on October 16-20. Sara Kulturhus spokesperson Mia Sundbom tells ELEVATOR WORLD the 20-story, 80-m-tall building is served by Schindler elevators. Inaugurated in September 2021, Sara Kulturhus was designed by White Architects and is among Europe’s tallest wooden buildings. It includes a 200-room hotel, a large restaurant/bar, approximately 500 m2 of meeting space and a 12,000-m2 cultural center with an art gallery, library and museum. Other European buildings honored include Valley in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Best Tall Building under 100 m; and Lighthouse 2.0 in Aarhus, Denmark, Best Tall Building 100-199 m.
