Three Elevators Open at Brooklyn Subway Station

Three elevators recently opened at Park Slope’s 7th Avenue F and G station in Brooklyn, NY, making the station accessible after years of community support, Patch reports. The accessibility improvements were initially promised by August after years of local organizing and rallies as far back as 2016. The elevators are equipped with cameras, heat detectors, fire alarms and emergency communication systems, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. A new boarding area and tactile strips were also installed on the platforms. Park Slope is still waiting on elevators at the Grand Army Plaza station. The 7th Avenue station is now the 33rd accessible station in Brooklyn. Around Park Slope, accessible stations include: Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr; Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum; Jay St-MetroTech; and Prospect Park.
