Scene of Elevator Death in Lagos Still Facing Issues

Five months after an elevator accident led to the death of a physician in a hospital in Odan, Lagos, the equipment has yet to be replaced, PUNCH reports. According to reports, the doctor was killed after the elevator fell from the 10th to the ground floor of the 131-year-old hospital and hospital management was aware of the “poor state of the elevator.” Government officials indicated that facility managers and the general manager of Lagos State Infrastructure and Asset Management Agency had been fired and blacklisted while reporting that a contract to replace the elevator and renovate the building had been awarded to contractors. According to the source, a visit from a correspondent showed that doctors in the residence have been taking the stairs for five months, the exit area to the lift was barricaded and no signs proposing the beginning of a renovation could be seen.
