Schindler Achieves Two Companywide ISO Certifications

Schindler Elevator Corp., with U.S. headquarters in Morristown, New Jersey, and Canadian headquarters in Toronto, announced in April it has become the first North American elevator company to achieve two companywide, global International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications: ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental management systems. Unlike previous certifications that have been limited to a singular business operation, these are the first to be implemented across the entire value chain. Schindler observes it has been a consistent sustainability leader in the elevator industry, earning North America’s first LEED Gold green-building certification for its manufacturing facility in Hanover, Pennsylvania, in 2014. Most recently, Schindler established an internal cross-functional sustainability committee as part of its commitment to achieving net zero by 2040. This year, Schindler, founded in Switzerland in 1874, is pursuing ISO 45001 certification, which is the global standard for managing occupational health and safety risk.
