Pakistan Railways (PR) plans to install escalators to enhance accessibility at major stations throughout the network, as well as CCTV cameras to strengthen security, Hamari Web News reports. In announcing the initiative, PR CEO Amer Ali Baloch said the company seeks to address various public complaints through these measures, and will put a “robust mechanism” in place to prevent vandalism of the cameras. PR is also cracking down on smoking on trains and panhandlers, and it plans to improve parking at Rahim Yar Khan station on the Karachi-Peshawar Railway Line. “These initiatives by PR reflect a commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and safety across the railway network,” the source observes.
