Schindler’s Martin Joins ASME A17.1 Standards Committee

Norman Martin, a vertical-transportation industry professional with nearly 40 years’ experience, has joined the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) A17.1 Elevator and Escalator Main Committee as a voting member. Martin returns to the committee after previously serving as an AHJ member representing manufacturers when he was State of Ohio Elevator Section chief. Over the past 10 years, Martin has served as a codes and standards officer for Schindler Elevator Corp. North America. He also continues to serve on several ASME A17.1 subcommittees. Martin has held NAESA International Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI^®) certification for the past 36 years and previously served as president of the organization, as well as an instructor. He holds a B.S. in business management and transportation from Arizona State University, as well as a master’s in public administration from Kent State University.
