KONE announced it provided 56 escalators as part of the vertical-transportation system at the new Saint-Denis-Pleyel station in Paris. The station is part of the Grand Paris Express, a major infrastructure project that expands the French capital’s metro network. The future terminus of line 14, the Saint-Denis-Pleyel station opened this month just ahead of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, boasting 28-m-deep platforms, four underground levels, 20,000 m2 of passenger space and a 3,750-m2 glass façade, all designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, according to soritaparis.com. The KONE escalators will help approximately 250,000 daily travelers have a safe and smooth journey. One of eight stations along the extension of line 14, the Saint-Denis-Pleyel station will play a key role in connecting venues such as The Village, Stade de France and the Aquatics Centre during the Paris 2024 games, KONE observed.
