Reuters in Washington, D.C., reported this in December 2024:

“Chinese state-sponsored hackers breached the U.S. Treasury Department’s computer security guardrails this month and stole documents in what the Treasury called a ‘major incident,’ according to a letter to lawmakers that Treasury officials provided to Reuters. The hackers compromised third-party cybersecurity service provider BeyondTrust and were able to access unclassified documents, the letter said.”

Increasingly, we are reading about this type of incident. Because of this and other reports like it, government agencies are looking for secure and creditable companies to provide a video messaging system (VMS) that meets both the ASME 17.1/B44 2019 code and one they can trust in their elevators.

MAD Elevator is excited to announce that New York’s state Office of Governmental Services (OGS) has approved MAD’s MosaicONE Video & Messaging System as the secure elevator emergency communication system for current and future elevator upgrade projects over several New York state-owned buildings. Locations include, but are not limited to:

  • Empire Plaza/New York State Capitol, Albany
  • Cultural Education Center, Albany
  • Harriman State Office Campus, Albany
  • State office buildings, multiple locations throughout the state

Monitoring customer systems

We are proud to have been chosen as the preferred provider after working closely with the elevator consulting firm Architectural Resources out of Buffalo, NY. Together with the Architectural Resources team, we are thrilled with this outcome after several months of challenging work and meetings.

MAD President Steve Reich-Rohrwig believes in giving customers what they want, and in the case of a secure system, the MAD VMS system delivers, he said.

With ASME 17.1/B44 2022 code requiring any elevator equipment connected to the internet to meet a minimum-security level, “emergency communication systems shall be security level rated to a minimum of SLC-1,” the codes states. MAD is happy to announce that it exceeded the minimum. The MAD system is fully secure with end-to-end encryption and no open ports.

“We want all our customers to know that MAD’s VMS system is not only simple, seamless and superior, but it is also secure,” Reich-Rohrwig said.
