Big News for interlift

World’s leading trade fair for elevators to move from Augsburg to Nuremberg, Germany, in 2025.

While plans for interlift 2023 were ramping up, a new date and location for the next world’s leading trade fair for the lift industry had already been set. The next interlift will take place at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre (Messe Nürnberg) in Nuremberg, Germany, on October 14-17, 2025. The relocation of the world’s leading trade fair for elevators opens up new possibilities for further development of the event. Nuremberg as the new home of the fair already presented itself at this year’s interlift in Hall 2, giving the industry a warm welcome. VFA-Interlift e.V., professional partner of the trade fair, and organizer AFAG will remain unchanged.

The Decision

interlift is the leading trade fair for elevators, bringing together more than 500 exhibitors in 2023 to present their innovations and products to guests from all over the world. Approximately 18,000 visitors from Germany and abroad attended the four days of the trade fair. The joy of reunion was great for many experts, associations and companies, as interlift is the only industry trade fair they visit. The Association for Lift Technology VFA-Interlift, as the professional partner of the trade fair, and interlift organizer AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen together — in consultation with the trade fair advisory board — made the decision for the new location. Achim Hütter, chairman of VFA-Interlift e.V., said:

“This decision was not easy for us. Augsburg has been a committed and competent partner of the interlift since 1991. With the move to Nuremberg, we are setting the course for further development of the interlift, which is not given at the current location. We are already looking forward to welcoming the lift world in Nuremberg in 2025, with a proven concept but with new potential.”

Nuremberg Becomes the New Home of interlift

Messe Nürnberg is one of the top 15 exhibition centers in the world and offers an ideal infrastructure for exhibitors and visitors. interlift 2025 will be located in Halls 1 to 5, connected to the two large entrance areas and congress centers NCC Ost and NCC Mitte — which, with numerous rooms and halls —offer a wide range of possibilities for lectures, meetings and supporting events.

Nuremberg Mayor Marcus König is pleased that interlift will be held in Nuremberg in the future. König said:

“This is a strengthening of Nuremberg as an exhibition location. With the interlift, a leading world trade fair is coming to us that fits well into the portfolio and the business location. Messe Nürnberg is an important economic factor for the city and the region.”

The Exhibition Centre Nuremberg is very easy to reach by car, train and via the international airport. The exhibition center can be reached from Nuremberg Airport in 25 min by underground and from the main railway station in just 8 min. The wide range of hotels in the city of Nuremberg and in the well-connected surrounding area ensures that there will be sufficient hotel beds available, even at trade fair times.

Augsburg, A Good and Longstanding Home of the Trade Fair

For more than 30 years, Augsburg offered interlift a perfect environment and set the course for steady development of the event. With its infrastructure, the Augsburg Trade Fair Centre (Messe Augsburg) contributed to interlift developing into the world’s leading trade fair for lifts. Exhibitors were also able to show their elaborate presentations and innovations for the lift industry there. The trade fair location in Augsburg and the Free State of Bavaria have always promoted the development of international trade fairs, which is why it was a matter of concern for both VFA-Interlift and the organizing company AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH that the interlift should remain in Bavaria. Also in Bavaria, Nuremberg is only approximately 200 km from Augsburg. AFAG Managing Directors Henning and Thilo Könicke see good opportunities for the future development of interlift in Nuremberg. Könicke observed:

“The interlift has grown up in Augsburg. Both the Augsburg Trade Fair Centre and the city and district of Augsburg have provided the interlift with a good home for many years and welcomed guests from all over the world with open arms. The industry has felt very much at home here, yet the move has now become necessary in order to meet increased demands. It is important for us that the interlift retains its home in Bavaria, also in order to continue to ensure proximity for the numerous southern European exhibitors and visitors.”
