Door Developments
MEILLER’s ComfortLine can replace the mechanism while the existing door panels remain.

In this Product Spotlight, MEILLER showcases two years’ worth of new and improved door solutions.

Germany-based door specialist MEILLER used the challenging two years of the pandemic to initiate numerous new developments and improve and expand on its existing solutions.

One new development from MEILLER is its door with glass-door panels in which ultra-flash LCD displays are integrated. Information of all kinds can be displayed in high resolution, offering brilliant quality from lifts passengers. Should the displays ever be switched off, the surface acts like a mirror.

In the field of modernization, MEILLER continues to develop innovative solutions for elevator car and landing doors. The solutions for car doors are based on a variable skate that can be adjusted to operate the hook locks of a wide variety of landing doors, including those made by other manufacturers. The customer may choose among three door-modernization options: ComfortLine: only the mechanism is replaced, while the existing door panels remain; CompleteLine: the door panels are renewed and replaced with double-walled MEILLER standard door panels; or, RetroLine: replacement of the old door panels with new ones that match the existing ones in terms of dimensions, so that replacement can be carried out without adapting the car entrance frame.

Corresponding variants are also available for landing doors so that existing entrance portals can be left in place, thus avoiding additional work and costs: Either a complete door mechanism that is mounted in the existing transom housing and connected to the remaining door panels (ComfortLine); or — as with the car door — one may opt for dimensionally adapted door panels (RetroLine).

Existing product lines have been expanded with options that make planning and commissioning easier for the lift company. Two new options have been developed for the ZENIT XTREME®, the solid heavy-duty door for the toughest requirements (available in clear dimensions up to 8000 X 5000 mm): The Easy-Installation-Kit is a ready-made, pre-wired safety circuit for doors with an electric door interlock. Complementing this, the Zone Kit enables the electrical definition of door zones. Incidentally, these two new kits can also be used with other MEILLER doors where a “classic” locking system cannot be used, e.g., SINIUS® folding door, ACTIVE powered landing door, PREMIUS® lifting gate, etc.

Door Developments - MEILLER PREMIUS
MEILLER PREMIUS® lifting gates are now also available in explosion-proof versions.

MEILLER has, in the meantime, supplemented the range of PREMIUS lifting gates with an explosion-proof variant and is thus in a position to offer doors in accordance with ATEX as horizontally moving automatic doors, manual swing doors and vertical doors.

Furthermore, already familiar solutions have been expanded to include additional door types and sizes. To prevent toxic smoke from spreading to other floors via the lift shaft in the event of a fire, MEILLER’s SmokeGuard® version offers fire-tested landing doors to EN 81-58 (E120), in combination with a smoke-tight curtain made of a tested special material.

A continuing serious issue in the area of safety is the entrapment of children’s hands. MEILLER’s FingerGuard® safety system, which has been tried and tested for many years, provides greater protection, in that a laser sensor in the top frame detects obstacles in the danger zone. The drive abruptly stops the door-opening process.

For lifts in the upper performance range, MEILLER recommends its high-performance SUPRA® door, which has been specially developed for lifts subject to high stress, e.g., in shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, hospitals, etc. High-quality rollers with a diameter of 90 mm and other quality components ensure low wear and extremely smooth door travel.
