Dear Readers of Elevator World Türkiye,

Since the official name of our country is changed as Türkiye in all platforms including United Nations, we have decided to proceed as Elevator World Türkiye proudly. Starting with our July-August issue, the name of our magazine will be Elevator World Türkiye.

interlift, the biggest exhibition of our sector, was held in Augsburg on April 26-29, 2022, after a delay of six monts due to pandemic. Companies from China and several European countries cancelled their participation plans, but there were 350 exhibitors at the event. Türkiye attended the event with 53 companies and became second in terms of the number of exhibitors, following Germany, which is the host country. I would like to congratulate all of our companies for making us feel such a justified pride.

Türkiye Elevator Industrialists Federation (TASFED) recently organized a series of events. The Board of Presidents met at the federation’s office in Ankara and made some important decisions. You may find the details of these decisions in this issue. Additionally, TASFED management announced that they will not support CNR Eurasia this year.

Ascen.tec, which was held in Greece for the second time, has been highly satisfactory due to the professionality of the organization as well as the honors of the organizers, despite the limited number of exhibitors in only one Hall.

The European Elevator Association (ELA), which is the umbrella organization for the elevator sector in international arena, held its first general meeting in Frankfurt after three years. ELA Conference was simultaneously at the event where politicians from the European Union made a presentation, in addition to the presentations of representatives from institutions such as CEN, ISO and ETSI.

The students who graduated from the vocational schools, which makes significant contributions for the employment of qualified personnel in our sector, received their diplomas. We observe the graduation happiness of the students from Has Asansör Vocational High School in Bursa and Merih Academy in Ankara.

Machine Room-less (MRL) Elevators, which was introduced recently within the 150-year history of elevators, has been irreplaceable parts of modern buildings, thanks to its advantages. Authors who are experts in these systems made important contributions on our focus in this issue. You may read the articles of authors Selçuk Gençol, Erol Akçay, and Serdar Tavaslıoğlu from our country, and historian Dr. Lee Gray from the U.S. You may also find some sample projects that provide important information to the stakeholders of the sector.

During the summer months, which will probably be stagnant in parallel with the construction sector, our main problem seems to be inflation and continuously increasing costs. Therefore, we wish these dark days will be over and the sector will gain a profitable momentum again.  I hope you a have happy and prosperous summer.
