ExpoElevador Brazil 2023

ExpoElevador Brazil 2023

Event returns successfully after five-year absence.

After five years´ absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ExpoElevador Brasil successfully reappeared in São Paulo, Brazil. Pro Magno exhibit hall hosted over 80  booths and 3,500 enthusiastic visitors on May 9-11, 2023.

A Longed for Event

ExpoElevador is the unique Latin American technological elevator showcase. It started shyly in 2006 and step by step it became the only event of its kind in the region.

Organized every two years by Cardoso Almeida Eventos and sponsored by Revista Elevador Brasil, it was postponed five years on account of the pandemic.

The 2023 edition has been a successful and longed for event as proved by the presence of 80 exhibitors and over four thousand visitors.

Guests coming mainly from Brazil but also from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela could appreciate technical innovations and listen to a series of lectures but they could also shake hands, socialize and exchange news with friends and colleagues.

European visitors were scarce except for managers of companies represented in Brazil. It was widely acknowledged that the European situation is very difficult due to the Ukrainian war, inflation, fuel shortage and high price commodities were the apparent reasons for absences.

Each of the three days since the opening at 12 am to the close at 8 pm, quite a crowd of visitors assembled in hallways and booths. Guests showed satisfaction at the re-encounter with enthusiastic hugs and friendly comments. Five years without the show had been too long.

Products

Eighty booths of different sizes were displayed in the modern Pro Magno venue. Mostly local companies and several European with branches located in Brazil showcased their products. Chinese exhibitors were also present occupying smaller booths.

Doors and machine innovations were displayed by first rate companies as well as attractive cabs, wire ropes and electronic solutions for elevators. Controllers, push buttons and weighing devices could be appreciated as well as residential lifts and special systems for people with disabilities.

Renato Costa commercial manager at Schmersal remarked: “An exhibition is very important for our market because we do not have many VT news media and this show is considered a major event in Latin America as an excellent opportunity for all the companies on this market”

Elevator associations´ booths served as meeting points for their members and colleagues: The Brazilian ABEEL (Brazilian Elevator Association), SECIESP (Sindicato das Empresas de Elevadores de São Paulo, SECMIERJ (Sindicato das Empresas de Conservação Manutenção Instalação do Estado do RJ) were present. Argentina was represented by Cámara de Ascensores y Afines (CAA) and Cámara Argentina de Fabricantes de Ascensores y sus Componentes (CAFAC).

Regarding the press, Revista Elevador Brasil, offered a comfortable place to recover after long standings.

Elevator World and its associated Argentine magazine Subir & Bajar shared a booth that attracted many interested readers that collected magazines to be updated on the VT news.

Lectures

A series of technological lectures were delivered in Portuguese in parallel with the exhibition. The auditorium was a full house almost daily. The audience took advantage of an appealing program since conferences mainly focused on maintenance both from the commercial and technical points of view. Other lectures focused on standards and environmental protection.

Some titles were: “Elevator Safety and Technology” delivered by Marcelo Braga, ABEEL & SECIESP chair.  It is worth mentioning that Brazil will shortly follow the new elevator standard ABNT NBR 16858-1 and ABNT 1658-2 based on the European EN 81-20 and EN 81-50 probably as from 2024. These standards enforce more safety requirements for elevator components.

Some of the lectures were: “How to deal with anti-competitive behavior on the elevator market” as suggested by Fábio Becker Aranha, President of Infolev; “The Importance of Preventive Maintenance” was approached by Ederson Silva; “Elevators and the Environment” by Alea Guillemi of the Argentine Guillemi Group; “The Impact of the Standard ABNT NBR 16858-1 on Elevator Automatic Doors”, was delivered by Jeferson Reis, Fermator Brasil´s post-sales Engineer; Katia Marim Treviso of Conversa Elevator spoke on “Challenges for the Growth of Maintenance Companies”.

The organizers were truly satisfied with the enthusiastic response of the Brazilian and Latin American elevator industry.

Edilberto Cardoso Almeida, Director of Cardoso Almeida Eventos stated, “We realize the event helped exhibitors increase their contacts, strengthen their brands and create new relationships for future commercial transactions”.

Food and drinks helped to cheer up as well as the participation of a sort of transformer and fairy angels, in addition to attractive booth assistants, contributed to the general hullabaloo and colorful event.

Next ExpoElevador is expected to take place in 2024. However, details will be informed in due course.
