Kendra Glenn, senior project manager at Linden, New Jersey-headquartered G-Tech Elevator Associates LLC, recently shared a few photographs of Imperial 705 machines being craned into place at a 35-story property in Long Island City, Queens. With a vivid blue morning sky, the Manhattan skyline and the setting moon as a backdrop, the machines appear to be flying. Glenn tells ELEVATOR WORLD the work is part of a project at 23-10 42nd Road, where MULTI-HOUSING NEWS reported that Werwaiss Properties secured a US$131 million loan earlier this year to build a 240-unit mixed-use development designed by Fogarty Finger. Suffolk Construction is serving as general contractor, and Jenkins Huntington was consultant for the elevator system, which includes three overhead traction units serving all 35 floors. Each elevator travels at 700 ft/min and has a capacity of 3500 lb. Glenn said the system features a BTS Elevator Packages base package with Hollister-Whitney safeties and governors, ELSCO roller guides, GAL door equipment, Motion Control Engineering controllers and MAD fixtures.
