Amar Chinubhai Doshi (AD), chairman and managing director, Aaron Industries Ltd., shares insights with your author (SSP) on the company’s origin and growth story and the manner in which it has made a visible impact across the VT industry with decorative cabins utilizing SS sheets.

SSP: How would you describe the sustained growth and progress of Aaron Industries Ltd. over the years?

AD: We started out with manual doors and progressed to the development of auto doors and cabins. By 2017, the elevator division of Aaron Industries Ltd. was well established, and we had the confidence to go in for a substantial expansion. Looking at our future goals, we initiated the company’s public issue in 2018, which was fully subscribed. In this way, Aaron Industries Ltd. became the first elevator company in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) segment to be listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), which indicates quite a strong level of growth.

SSP: How has Aaron Industries Ltd. leveraged its capabilities in the sphere of stainless steel (SS) sheets with its extensive range of options, thereby making a substantial impact in the vertical-transportation (VT) industry?

AD: Post 2018, Aaron Industries Ltd. established the SS sheet-polishing lines (matt and mirror finish) and progressively introduced physical vapor deposition (PVD) for colored sheets like gold, rose gold and black, etching (for designer sheets) and embossed lines. These steps made us self-sufficient in terms of the SS sheet required for elevator parts manufacturing.

Aaron Industries Ltd. provides a wide range of finishes of SS sheets that we manufacture at our Kosamba Factory. These include:

All the above sheets are available in different colors also like silver, gold, rose gold, black, etc. 

SSP: What are the key applications of SS sheets?

AD: SS sheets are widely used in the elevator industry and for interior decoration purposes.

SSP: What are the qualities and capabilities that set Aaron Industries Ltd. apart as a company, especially looking at it from a “Make in India” point of view?

AD: During the initial years, we had observed that the elevator manufacturing sector was moving from mild steel (MS) to SS, and for SS, it was heavily dependent on imported SS sheets, especially the colored and designer sheets. 

We identified this as a unique opportunity to participate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Atma Nirbhar (Self-Sufficient) Bharat” and the “Make in India” initiative. 

In line with this strategic approach, we started a new factory at Kosamba for SS sheet polishing starting with Matt No. 4 and Mirror finish No. 8. Shortly thereafter, we installed PVD and designer sheet manufacturing setup. The embossing line was started in October 2024.

SSP: How has this proactive mindset and comprehensive approach redefined the positioning of Aaron Industries Ltd. and given it an edge?

AD: With this backward integration, Aaron Industries Ltd. is the only elevator company that has all the raw material manufactured in-house, thus providing customers with consistent quality at a competitive cost.

SSP: As a pioneer in implementing the “Make in India” concept, how has Aaron Industries Ltd. facilitated the same for other manufacturers?

AD: Aaron Industries Ltd. has been one of the front runners in this regard by developing import substitute products in SS sheets and auto door mechanisms. In the first phase, our goal was to become self-sufficient ourselves, and now we are also supplying the SS sheets to other manufacturers. This is a true “Make in India” initiative by Aaron Industries Ltd.

At Aaron, we add value to SS sheets and deliver products that are customized per customer needs with high quality. We have become a one-stop solutions provider for the elevator industry, as we can provide standard and customized auto doors, manual swing doors, cabins of SS and MS, car frames and the full kit.

SSP: Looking at the rising opportunities in the VT industry in India going forward, how is Aaron Industries Ltd. gearing up to be a key player in this regard?

AD: We have observed that the VT industry is most definitely on a high-growth trajectory, and there is also a sustained expansion of the traditional VT customer base. Not only is the fast-paced development in urban areas driving demand, but there are also multiple segments where even the owners of horizontal structures are finding VT an essential element. Since these are high-net-worth individuals, they are very particular about the quality and finish of elevators, preferring customized designer cabins to reflect their stature. 

Aaron Industries Ltd. is uniquely poised to cater to this exponentially growing demand and provide not only customer satisfaction but also customer delight because of our in-house capabilities. There is also a visible increase in the quantum of high-rise development taking place in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and VT plays an integral role there, as well, so we are well-positioned as a high-profile brand to be a key player moving forward into 2026 and further, as well.

SSP: How has Aaron Industries Ltd. made an impact across the spectrum by providing a comprehensive range and strategically positioned itself as a national brand with a Pan-India reach?

AD: At Aaron Industries Ltd., we have been steadily accelerating forward during each stage of this journey. While we are acknowledged as a national brand providing a comprehensive range including import substitutes of PVD, designer and embossed sheets, our team has also developed designer cabins, which are competitive in terms of rates. 

This way, we have proven our capability and capacity to supply international quality products to elevator companies consistently at competitive rates. Offering multiple advantages and benefits to large companies while simultaneously helping medium-sized companies improve themselves has enabled domestic players across the spectrum to develop their business to a greater extent, making them our partners in progress.

In terms of market penetration, we have a strong presence in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha (formerly known as Orissa) and are now increasing our distribution network in North and South India, as well.

SSP: To what extent have quality and safety factors gained importance, and how has Aaron Industries Ltd. ensured it epitomizes both?

AD: At Aaron, we strongly believe in providing good quality products, and to enable this, we have the Bureau of Indian Standards certificate for the SS sheet polishing process, as per IS-6911:2017. We follow ISO standards and have ISO certification – 9001 – 2015. An enterprise resource planning system has been incorporated to regulate production and manage the whole business. Moreover, we have implemented the Lean 5S program at the factory. At Aaron, we also have the fire-resistant door certification to manufacture fire-rated doors — EN-81-58, IS-17518 with 120-min integrity.
