KONE to Outfit Mixed-Use Dubai Development
KONE has won an order to supply 32 elevators and four escalators to One Central in Dubai, a multiple-building mixed-use complex being developed by Dubai World Trade Centre on 104 ha in the central business district (CBD). Al Futtaim Carillion is the main contractor, and Hopkins is the architect. The order includes 22 MiniSpaceTM and 10 MonoSpace® elevators and the E-Link remote-monitoring system, which will be used in towers ranging in height from 12 to 88 m. One Central will consist of 300,000 m2 of office space designed to the highest environmental standards, as well as stores, hotels, residences and amenities. Completion is anticipated later this year.
Paramount Residential/Hotel Tower Progresses in Dubai
Damac Properties’ 64-story Paramount Tower Hotel & Residences in Dubai is moving forward, with Damac awarding a contract to China State Construction Engineering Corp. for construction of residences on floors 37-63, Trade Arabia reported. Scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2020, the development is set to contain a private Paramount Pictures screening studio, Hollywood-themed hotel rooms and amenities such as a rooftop infinity pool. A sky lobby will boast views of the Burj area.
Tallest Buildings in Nairobi to House Hilton, Offices
Construction is underway on a project that includes 67- and 45-story towers in Nairobi, Kenya, that will house offices and a Hilton hotel, respectively, Business Daily reported. Developed by Jabavu Village Ltd. and White Lotus Projects, Hass Towers is scheduled for completion by 2020. It promises to be the tallest and among the most upscale developments in the African city, dwarfing other buildings such as Nairobi’s current tallest building, UAP Tower, which was completed in 2015 and stands 33 stories tall.
