MEGA Elevator Parts and Electrical Supply (MEGA), headquartered in Queens, NY, supports the backbone of NYC’s bustling vertical-transportation (VT) industry. Founded in 1999, MEGA originally supplied industrial products before pivoting to cater to the VT industry. Providing free and next-day delivery in the NYC area, MEGA has become a go-to supplier of elevator parts, including traveling cable, hoistway cable, compensation chain, wire rope and electrical components. The company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Sam Ahmed, stands ready to expand the business, beginning with an office in Miami, Florida, set to open in Q3 2025.
Ahmed started his elevator industry career working at Prime Electric as a shop helper. There, he learned the ropes of the industry, and in 2008, he joined MEGA, where he held various positions in accounting, sales and operations. Ahmed has been a driving force behind MEGA’s transition to focusing its services on the elevator industry.

With the help of his team and mentors, Ahmed is leading MEGA on its journey of becoming a key supplier across North America. Miami will serve as the starting point for MEGA’s national expansion.
Recently, your author (TBM) sat down with Ahmed (SA) for a conversation about the strategy behind MEGA’s continued success and future expansions.

TBM: With NYC being such an important city for elevators, how were you able to capitalize on the market and represent so many of the prominent supplier brands? How long did that take?
SA: When I started going out and seeing customers, I always asked people, “What is the issue you guys are facing?” So, we started focusing on that. To me, this was how MEGA could be valuable to these companies. Until today, we never had a dedicated outside salesperson. We continued to grow and put in a lot of time, dedication and hard work. We always thought of ourselves as a value-added supplier. We have been rewarded with a lot of names from our customers, such as “Elevator Home Depot” and “Elevator Superstore.”
TBM: What makes you different?
SA: We consider ourselves a solution provider. What we say is what we do. We do not sell people a dream. When we tell you we are going to do something, we’re committed to it from start to finish.
TBM: I know you’ve said Miami, but where else is MEGA considering expanding?
SA: We are going national. The plan is to have four to five facilities by 2026. One in Canada, as well.

Sam Ahmed considers himself a dedicated professional with 17 years of experience in the elevator industry. He is passionate about providing quality service and solutions to MEGA’s customers. When not working, Ahmed enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
