The pedestrian transportation problem in Doğupark, on the Samsun-Ordu highway viaduct where the rail system is located, has been solved with an interchange that also has an escalator.
Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which has made the lives of elderly and disabled citizens easier through the project, announced that the second phase of the construction on the viaduct side of the interchange, which is 9 meters high and 21 meters long, including the installation of the escalator, would start at the beginning of June.
The escalator installed by the interchange at the entrance of Doğupark in the Canik district of Samsun, has also been supported by the NGOs in the region and by neighborhood officials.
Karşıyaka Neighborhood Official Cevdet Dursun stated that there is a stampede on the interchange when there is busy traffic, and said, “There was a stampede on the interchange at the 100th anniversary of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s departure to Samsun. When we hosted our friends coming from Samsun and various cities of Turkey, we have seen that the interchange was inadequate. We would like to thank Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir for this investment.”
