thyssenkrupp received the Innovative Star of Energy Efficiency Award in the Built Environment category from the Alliance to Save Energy coalition during a gala dinner in Washington, D.C., on September 26 for its ropeless, sideways-moving elevator MULTI (ELEVATOR WORLD, September 2017). New York Congressman Paul Tonko, chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, presented the award to thyssenkrupp Elevator MULTI CEO Michael Cesarz during the event, attended by approximately 400. thyssenkrupp observed MULTI is the first elevator to win all of the following awards (which it has done in the past 18 months): Gold Edison Award (EW, June 2017), Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat Innovation Award (EW, September 2018) and TIME magazine’s Top 25 Invention of the Year award (EW, January 2018).
