As the buildings have gotten higher and higher over the last century, the demand for elevators has also risen. In order to meet the requirements of the latest safety standards, changing the components that completed their economic lives or modernization of the old units become an inevitable need in order to obtain a faster and more comfortable travel experience, and it is what we focus in this issue. Erol Akçay, Dr. Rory Smith and Murat Dönmez, who are experts in their fields, have valuable contributions in this issue with their important articles. You may also read the articles about the Sabancı Center and Mövenpick Bosphorus Hotel modernization projects carried out by Otis, and KONE’s Shippan Landing (USA) project, which tells about supplying the escalator parts that are not manufactured any more.
