Take an elevator complete with a bar at the Peninsula Bed & Cocktails in Gulfport, Florida. Originally a bed and breakfast, the historic inn sold for almost US$3 million in the summer of 2022. Its new owners renovated and rebranded the hotel, which opened on January 15 with new cocktail-themed accommodations and a lobby bar with expert mixologists. Guests can stay in the Old Fashioned suite, the Margarita deluxe room and the Mai Tai Room, among other boozy digs. The hotel’s vintage elevator, complete with channel gate, now includes a bar with bottles of liquor and glassware. (But don’t try to make yourself a drink; the barware is glued down and just for show.) Although if visitors are feeling thirsty, they will have options to choose from in the minibar in their room, including its namesake cocktail in a can. Peninsula Bed & Cocktails has 16 rooms, priced from US$150-300 per night.
