Hyundai Elevator “Vertiport”

Hyundai Elevator, known for its vertical-transportation solutions, is branching out into a new type of technology. The company announced in May it will start developing “Vertiport,” one of its key projects for the commercialization of urban air traffic (UAM), BusinessKorea reported. Vertiport is a takeoff and landing site that will be the hub of UAM aircraft. Vertiports are limited to urban environments, and Hyundai Elevator has addressed this by proposing a vertical, enclosed Vertiport. Hyundai Elevator Consortium will carry out the project from April 2024 to December 2026 and was selected as the implementing organization for the Mobile Modular Vertiport Design and Construction Technology and Monitoring System Development by the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which is promoting the K-UAM Safety Operation System Core Technology Development Project, one of the government’s top 10 national strategic technology projects. Hyundai Elevator will carry out the project in a consortium with Lotte E&C, the Korea Testing Certification Institute and Korea National University of Transportation.
