Stannah and Dame Zandra Rhodes, whose iconic designs have been worn by celebrities like Freddie Mercury and Princess Diana, are making accessibility aesthetic with the new 158 stairlift. For Rhodes, at 85, owning a stairlift isn’t a sign that she’s slowing down but an empowering choice to plan ahead and support her mobility on her own terms.
The 158 stairlift is stylish, blending into the designer’s colorful, maximalist London home with its tan leather seat, black detailing and contemporary design. “Age shouldn’t mean compromise — or swapping chic for clinical,” said Rhodes. “The Stannah 158 looks fabulous, is supremely comfortable and will enable me to continue thriving into the future.”
Stannah Managing Director Patrick Stannah notes that this collaboration reflects the brand’s mission to help people take control of their mobility in a way that feels stylish. “We recognize the stigma attached to stairlift ownership — this is our way of making accessibility aesthetic, so anyone mindful of their mobility reframes it as an empowering lifestyle choice,” said Stannah. The Stannah 158 will be available in the U.K. in January 2026.
