After being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) as an infant, Oshawa, Ontario, native Meaghan Addante would go on to become a bright and passionate young woman who held a degree in medical transcription from Durham College and joined TK Elevator Canada six years ago as the company’s CF ambassador. Through bake sales, raffles, curling, bowling and golf tournaments, TKE Canada employees joined Meaghan in raising more than a half-million Canadian dollars over the past five years for the OEM’s adopted charity, CF Canada. Meaghan passed away in 2021 at age 29, previously saying, “Maybe I, myself, won’t be saved, and maybe I won’t find the cure, but maybe one day people will look back and say, ‘That girl really made a difference.'”

TKE Canada continues to carry on Meaghan’s legacy. On May 31, the company supported the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History — which took place in 70 locations across the country — as a national sponsor. TKE Canada President and CEO Gary Medeiros described Meaghan’s fight against CF as “relentless,” and said the company will remain a steadfast partner of CF Canada.

Since 1960, the nonprofit has raised more than CAD261 million for CF research, care and advocacy, resulting in one of the world’s highest median age survival rates for people living with CF. Kevin Lavallee, TKE North America CEO and chief operating officer, field, said:

“We are proud to support CF Canada in its mission to end CF once and for all. This is very personal to us. Meaghan was an inspiration to everyone who met her and her courageous battle with CF and to raise awareness about this disease is a fight we are proud to continue fighting on her behalf.”
