1000M, a 73-story, 738-unit residential skyscraper that was the last designed by legendary architect Helmet Jahn before his untimely death in 2021, opened in downtown Chicago on June 13, CBS Chicago is among outlets to report. Located in the South Loop on the western edge of Grant Park at 1000 S. Michigan Avenue, 1000M boasts a 73rd-floor observation deck — the highest rooftop observation deck in Chicago. The property is served by an Otis vertical-transportation system that consists of six SkyRise® elevators equipped with the Compass® destination-dispatch system and two Gen3TM elevators. A prolific architect in the Chicago area, Jahn also designed the James R. Thompson Center at 100 W. Randolph Street, which is being transformed from a state office building into Google offices.
