73-Story 1000M With Otis Elevators Tops Out in Chicago
The final floor of concrete has been poured for the 73-story 1000M in Chicago’s South Loop, with McHugh Construction serving as general contractor, Urbanize Chicago reports. McHugh Senior Project Manager David Steffenhagen tells ELEVATOR WORLD the 738-apartment tower, the last designed by the late Helmet Jahn, will be served by an Otis elevator system. Boasting views of the Loop and Lake Michigan overlooking Grant Park, 1000M is being developed by Time Equities, JK Equities and Oak Capitals with “a highly sculpted form with an angled, cantilevered base topped by glass-clad residential floors that widen as the building rises.” A property showroom is set to open this fall ahead of anticipated completion in summer 2024.
