90-Year-Old Woman Dies After Falling on Escalator in U.K.

A 90-year-old woman died from complications after falling on an escalator inside a busy shopping center in Swansea, Wales, U.K., the Express reported on August 6. The woman suffered lacerations to her right leg after stumbling on the moving escalator on January 21. The inquest was told there were no faults with the escalator or the surrounding environment but found she had been taking medications that likely exacerbated the continuous bleeding following the injury. The official cause of death was listed as external bleeding, traumatic laceration of soft tissues of the right leg and coronary atheroma.
