The NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) tells ELEVATOR WORLD Citnalta Scalamandre JV, which includes Peter Scalamandre & Sons, Inc., was the elevator contractor for a new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant unit at the Copiague Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Station on Long Island, NY. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the station’s first-ever elevator with connected sidewalk on May 16. Along with Amityville and Lindenhurst, Copiague is the first of three Babylon Branch stations to become fully accessible by the end of June. Citnalta Scalamandre JV said on its website it is providing design-build services for ADA upgrades at nine LIRR stations. Hochul said she is “committed to improving accessibility across the MTA and ensuring the disability community has a voice and a seat at the table in deciding the future of transit in NYC.”
