Caltech Lifts Begins Work on High-Rise Project

A new £1.37 million (US$1.65 million) high-rise lift replacement project for Dundee City Council will help Caltech Lifts towards its goal of achieving £4 million (US$4.8 million) annual revenue by the end of October 2023 and moving to larger premises in the city by 2025. The Dundee, Scotland-based family firm, run by brothers Andrew and Fraser Renwick, was awarded the contract in May and recently began the work to replace eight aging lifts in the multi-story flats at Dallfield Court, Hilltown Court, Tulloch Court and Bonnethill Court in the Hilltown area of the city. Each block’s two lifts will be replaced with the latest technology – offering a better ride for residents and greater reliability thanks to a remote-monitoring system that will allow Caltech to carry out preventative maintenance during the warranty period. After that, the council’s lift team will be able to do the same using the lift software. The lifts will also cost less in power due to brake energy regeneration drives. The project is expected to be complete in early 2024. Beyond the financial goals and headquarters expansion, Caltech will soon add a new lift engineer, laborer and administrative person, bringing the staff headcount to 26.
