Canada Musuem To Get Elevator

The Revelstoke City Council voted unanimously to award Gibraltar Holdings Ltd. US$583,879 to improve accessibility to the Revelstoke Museum & Archives in Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada, with an elevator, the Revelstoke Review reports. A vertical platform lift will be installed in the museum’s rear parking lot. The scope of work will extend to making the second-floor washroom a fully accessible universal facility. Several grants have provided funding to make the elevator project possible, along with community support from individuals, businesses and community organizations raising US$92,200 in funds. Revelstoke Museum Curator Cathy English says she and the staff are very excited to be able to make the building truly acceptable for everyone as some people had to stop attending programs held on the second floor. The contractor has announced a construction schedule spanning 16 weeks.
