Central Railway Plans 2022 Improvements In India

With 2021 including the addition of 86 elevators and 125 escalators at Central Railway stations in and around Mumbai, India, the organization plans several initiatives to strengthen infrastructure and execute various measures for passengers in 2022, The Free Press Journal reports. The improvements focus on infrastructure work in general, a fight against COVID-19 and improved passenger amenities. In particular, Central Railway will add more foot overbridges, elevators and escalators, air-conditioned local services and new express Linke Hofmann Busch cars. Officials also plan electrification of several sections. For 2021, rail officials made a number of improvements in the Mumbai area. Though not numerically reported, Central Railway commits to installing and upgrading elevators and escalators in 2022.
