Citadel Plans Supertall Manhattan Office Tower

American multinational hedge fund and financial services company Citadel LLC plans to build a 1,350-ft-tall, 51-story office tower designed by Foster + Partners at 350 Park Avenue in Manhattan, NYC, slated for completion in 2032, Bloomberg reported on January 9. Renderings show a slender, white structure with gridded windows and seven landscaped terraces. If built, it would be among the city’s tallest buildings, on par with JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s under-construction new headquarters in Midtown and One Vanderbilt near Grand Central Terminal. Coming off what the source describes as a “banner year,” Citadel would consolidate its NYC area workforce from three into a single, 1.7 million-ft2 location. Citadel is working with developers Vornado Realty Trust and Rudin Management Co. on the plan. “The latest potential addition to the skyline is a sign that, for all of New York’s struggles after COVID, finance firms are committing to the city,” Bloomberg observed.
