Foundations and below-ground works of the Taikang Financial Centre in Wuhan, China, are now complete, Zaha Hadid Architects announces. Construction of the three interconnected towers that will comprise the 266,000-m2 project for Taikang Insurance Group has begun. Located within Hankou River Business District and adjacent to Line 1 of the city’s metro, Tower One (52 floors) faces the city, Tower Two (47 floors) faces the river and Tower 3 (50 floors) offers views of the park. The mixed-use development will include shops, restaurants, offices, apartments and a hotel. With the goal of achieving LEED Gold Certification, the three towers provide self-shading and utilize natural lighting during the day. Parsons Brinckerhoff is listed as vertical-transportation consultant. Construction completion is planned for 2025.
