Developer Mitsubishi Estate Co. plans to soon start construction on Torch Tower which, at 390 m and 62 stories, will be the tallest skyscraper in Japan, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat reports, citing Japan Today. Scheduled for completion by March 2028, Torch Tower was designed by Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei near Tokyo Station to resemble a torch, with a separated crown rising above the main structure. The mixed-use building will house offices, an observation area and an entertainment hall able to house approximately 2,000 people. In addition, a luxury hotel operated by Dorchester Collection, which has high-end hotels in London, Los Angeles and Paris, plans to occupy a portion of the property. Torch Tower will surpass the height of Japan’s current tallest building, the 330-m-tall Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower in Tokyo’s Minato Ward.
